As the Director, Business & Legal Affairs, Publishing, you'll be responsible to meaningfully contribute to the operation of Concord Publishing’s Business Affairs Department, with moderate supervision by a more senior member of Publishing Business Affairs team.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do:
- Negotiation, drafting, concluding and management of various music publishing contracts, including songwriter deals, administration agreements, third party commissions, acquisitions, subpublishing and various ancillary matters;
- Provide legal research and general legal advice to various internal departments with respect to general publishing matters including rights and clearances, as needed.
- Analyze, interpret, simplify and solve problems regarding legacy contractual agreements;
- Assist enforcement of Concord copyrights including infringement prosecution;
- Coordination with relevant Concord departments related to above matters;
- Summarizing, tracking and management of same via various tech platforms and applications;
- Conducting due diligence re acquisitions and associated negotiating/drafting;
- Assist with general corporate compliance and general corporate matters.
- Research and drafting in connection with offensive and defensive litigation matters;
- Contribute to Concord’s efficiency and organization through best practices
Qualifications
What you’ll need:
- Licensed to practice in Tennessee;
- 2 years’ experience with music publishing business and legal affairs matters.
- Motivated, enthusiastic individual who enjoys working in a friendly but fast-paced team environment.
- Excellent communications and organizational skills essential. Candidate must be able to prioritize, problem solve, and efficiently handle a high volume of work in an efficient manner, managing and meeting deadlines.
- Profeciency with or willingness and skills to rapidly adopt various technology products used by Concord, including Microsoft 365, Sharepoint, Jira, CLM/Salesforce, etc.
*This job is hybrid- requiring 3 days a week minimum on site.
