Technology Product Lead

 As the Technology Product Lead, Music Publishing you are a thorough and adaptive team player as well as an enthusiastic IT professional who can communicate exceptionally well with both business stakeholders and technology specialists. In this role, you will understand and document the business needs, challenges and processes that support existing systems and their overall business strategy.  You will analyze the business needs to identify viable new processes, tools, features, improvements, and world-class technical solutions that will meet those needs more accurately and efficiently with the ability to scale, including participating in the selection, procurement, and implementation of same. You will interface directly with the Copyright, Royalties, Licensing, Finance, Accounting and other business areas that support the day-to-day operations of Concord’s Publishing business. 

Responsibilities

What you'll do:

Strategic Product & Business Alignment

• Develop a deep understanding of music publishing operations, including contracts, copyrights, revenue processing, and royalty calculations, with a focus on software constraints and deal requirements.
• Interview users to elicit their needs (rather than their wants) to truly enable us to identify how we can help them
• Translate stakeholder needs into scalable, efficient and innovative technology solutions that align with business strategy.
• Drive the procurement, development, and implementation of tools, features and technical or business software products to optimize business functions and address emerging opportunities.

Technology & Business Process Optimization

• Analyze, document and enhance business processes, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain and create documentation, including process flows, functional specifications, and testing artifacts.
• Ensure a balance between feature development, technical debt resolution, and system scalability.
• Identify opportunities for automation and enhanced utilization of existing toolsets.

Product Development and/or Implementation

• Lead functional and technical requirements gathering, system configuration and assist with data integrity efforts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business needs, policies, and best practices.
• Participate in the design, development, testing (including User Acceptance Testing) and deployment of new business functionality.
• Provide guidance on technology solutions to solve business challenges and enhance capabilities.

Project Execution & Stakeholder Engagement

• Oversee release planning, roadmap execution and communication with stakeholders.
• Provide project updates on status, risks, and changes, ensuring transparency and alignment.
• Troubleshoot IT systems and proactively co-ordinate with technical partners to resolve blockers affecting business or technical processes.
• Support technology teams with product and business expertise and ensure seamless software operations.

Qualifications

What you'll need:

Experience & Industry Knowledge

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in Business Analysis, IT or Technology Product Management.
• Strong understanding of music publishing, copyright, and royalties, preferably with experience at a large music publisher.
• Knowledge of IT systems and applications within the music industry, including integrations with ERP, Salesforce.

Product & Technology Expertise

• Deep expertise in technology product management best practices, including Agile and Scrum methodologies.
• Experience leading product development from ideation to execution, driving business capability expansion, innovation, and efficiency.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Familiarity with project tracking tools such as JIRA and formal process documentation tools.
• Product Management and/or Agile Practitioner certification is highly desirable.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

• Proven ability to engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams, balancing stakeholder needs while making data-driven decisions.
• Experience being a part of a or leading a product management team and inspiring the team.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and vice-versa.
• Empathy for business users and a passion for developing software products that enhance user experience.

Collaboration & Problem-Solving

- Experience working closely with business stakeholders, end users, clients, engineers, IT colleagues, and agile teams, while adapting to different methodologies as needed. 

- Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to assess business requirements, identify gaps, and propose scalable solutions. 

- Comfortable working with internal and outsourced/offshore teams. 

*This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days minimum on-site.
