Job Summary/Basic Function
The Lead Instructor of a Concordia Language Villages ( CLV ) Language Training Center ( LTC ) program is responsible for the development and implementation of a language-specific, two- and three-week-long residential iso-immersion program in accordance with client-specified expectations. This includes planning and implementation the program curriculum, assisting with staff recruitment and interviewing, budget/expense tracking, some public relations, and interacting with the support staff from operations support areas at the Language Villages. This position is responsible for implementing a program that reflects the mission and immersion methodology of Concordia Language Villages, meets client expectations, all within the parameters of the Concordia LTC model. The lead instructor reports to the LTC director and associate director, is responsible for managing the instructional team as a cohesive, collaborative team, and interfaces with the CLV administrative team as a whole.

The minimum pay is $1,750/week and includes compensation for pre-arrival planning and preparations. The gross employment offer will also include compensation to attend a fall and spring workshop in September 2019 (Bemidji, Minn.) and March 2020 (Chaska Minn.) respectively. Airline travel or mileage expenses related to getting to the training course in Bemidji, Minnesota, will also be covered or reimbursed. Additional expenses incurred during the travel to and from the training facility are the responsibility of the employee (including baggage fees, taxi fares, Uber charges, meals, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications
- Superior (at minimum) proficiency in the target language/dialects and Advanced (minimum) proficiency English
- Commitment to the importance of immersion language and culture education
- Knowledge of effective teaching strategies and methodologies for second language learning in an immersion setting for adults
- Strong organizational and management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Master’s. degree required, with advanced degree preferred
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the program leader position (see job description)
- Availability for all session dates noted in the application
- Eligibility to be employed legally in the USA ; assume responsibility and costs for any visa requirements
- Sympathy with the mission of a liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
- Advanced degree, preferred
- Prior experience in intensive iso-immersion training/teaching environments
- Understanding of and experience with language proficiency rating scales like the ILR and the OPI
- Previous leadership position at Concordia Language Villages or in a comparable language immersion environment
