The VNA has been a well-established Home Health/Hospice provider in the Indiana and surrounding counties for more than 50 years. Your patients, your schedule. Typical hours are Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm but we are open to other possibilities. Let us know what type of schedule you are seeking. Some weekends, evenings and holidays are required.

The Mental Health Registered Nurse RN offers collaborative, comprehensive psychiatric nursing services and medical nursing care to patients in their home. These services are designed to prevent hospitalizations, increase access to mental health services, and provide follow-up treatment and to assist families in maintaining community living and improving their quality of life.

QUALIFICATIONS for the Mental Health Registered Nurse RN position:

• Registered professional nurse with a current valid Pennsylvania license. and has special training and/or experience beyond the standard curriculum required for a registered nurse such as:
• Registered Nurse with Master’s degree in psychiatric or mental health nursing.

OR

• Registered Nurse with Two years of recent nursing experience within the last 3 years in an acute treatment unit in a psychiatric hospital, psychiatric home care, psychiatric partial hospitalization program or another outpatient psychiatric service
• Reliable, independent means of transportation to make home visits is required, until a company car becomes available. Drivers must have a valid driver’s license and drive a vehicle with insurance limits as established by the state.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES for the Mental Health Registered Nurse RN position:

• Makes initial assessment visit utilizing observation and assessment skills
• Utilizes psycho-educational approaches with the patient and family directed toward increasing the patient’s level of knowledge and control over his/her illness, and enhancing coping skills through: Symptoms and Illness management, Instructs self-care, mental and physical well-being, promotes independence and patient’s rights.
• Administers medications, Medication teaching, Coping Skills, and Communication Skills
• Provides post hospitalization follow-up to assist in bridging the patient’s transition from hospital to community. Provides therapeutic interventions and psychotherapy interventions
• Provides psycho education such as teaching/training with disease process, symptom and safety management, coping skills and problem solving
