Activity Aide Job Description
Our Activity Aides are responsible for the planning and implementation of the activity program designed to meet the social, physical, intellectual, recreational, and spiritual needs of our residents. This is a full time position in our skilled nursing activities department with a 4 days/32 hours a week schedule. Rotating weekends and holidays are included
Activity Aide Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Kind and compassionate demeaner
- Experience in a long term care activity department preferred
- Activity certification or course completion preferred
- Background in music, art, drama, and dance therapy preferred
Activity Aide Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist in planning, coordinating, communicating, and facilitating individual and group activities such as
- Gross motor activities such as dancing, stretching, and other exercise
- Self-care activities such as personal hygiene
- Social activities such as games, coffee talks, music groups, and holiday and seasonal celebrations
- Crafts, such as sewing, creating room decorations, and more
- Sensory and memory enhancement activities, such as review of current events, movies, story telling, picture albums, cooking, and pet therapy
- Outdoor activities, as weather permits, such as walking, gardening, and field trips
2. Encourage residents to attend and participate in activities
3. Document activity attendance, individual visits, level of participation and other information required for compliance with care plans, policies/procedures, and state regulations.
4. Promote positive family relationships and communications by providing periodic updates on resident participation in activities.
5. Decorate the facility for seasonal holidays and events.
6. Commit to high ethical standards and complies with the Code of Conduct, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards and Concordia policies and procedures.
