Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the identification, cultivation and direct solicitation of significant gifts to support the strategic institutional priorities of Concordia Seminary.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement strategies to meet personal solicitation goals as set by the supervisor.
- Develop written proposals for the solicitation of individuals, organizations and foundations to meet the funding needs of Concordia Seminary.
- Visit current and prospective donors in assigned regions and areas around the country.
- Cultivate relationships that lead to continued and increased financial support and develop the framework to successfully solicit major gifts.
- Solicit current and prospective donors to include Concordia Seminary in their estate plans.
- Plan and execute special events and activities that communicate the philanthropic opportunities available for financially supporting Concordia Seminary.
- Engage in creative planning with fellow Seminary Advancement division team members to accomplish funding goals related to major campaigns and other unique institutional anniversaries and events.
- Participate in the long-range planning process for expanding the donor base.
ANCILLARY DUTIES:
Additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director for Seminary Support related to donor relations and gift solicitation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or CFRE preferred.
- Active membership in an LCMS congregation preferred.
- Five or more years of experience in development or a related field.
- Experience in establishing gifts through estate plans and comprehensive campaign planning.
- Demonstrated evidence of good planning and team skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to demonstrate good steward of time, talent and divisional resources; and ability to work independently.
- Strong computer literacy required, specifically Microsoft Office suite.
