The Women's Flag Football Head Coach is responsible for the overall direction for the newly added women's flag football program. This includes, but is not limited to, recruitment and retention of student-athletes to meet enrollment and roster expectations; practice and game management; scheduling use of facilities and transportation; efficient budgeting; promotion of the program; and developing the skills of the student-athletes to have a competitive and successful flag football program. The Flag Football Head Coach must exhibit a vibrant personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, displaying Christ-centered servant leadership and a commitment to student success. This individual will seek to integrate the mission, vision, and core values of Concordia University Chicago into his/her daily work with students and fellow staff members.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Oversight of the Women's Flag Football Program
- Responsible for all aspects of the Flag Football program, including but not limited to:
Creation and instruction of developmental techniques, strategy, and competitive practices to maximize skill development, potential talent, and knowledge of the sport
Implement effective game preparation and strategy for high level of competition
Cultivate an environment consistent with the values of the university and fostering the development of the whole student-athlete
Instill self-discipline, accountability, and integrity into the program
Ensure program is compliant with all NCAA, NACC, and CUC policies
- Handle logistics of the Flag Football Program
Arrange facility reservations and travel details for the program
Maintain fiscal responsibility for the budget provided by the university to effectively run the program in the purchasing, storage, and maintenance of uniforms and equipment
Fundraise appropriately to meet the needs of the program and department in collaboration with the University Foundation and Alumni Office
Recruitment and Retention of student-athletes participating in the Flag Football Program
- Responsible for the recruitment of women's flag football student-athletes in partnership/conjunction with the Office/Department of Undergraduate Admissions. that fit the university academically, athletically, and spiritually
Meet enrollment and roster goals set by the University and Athletic Department
Create and implement an effective recruiting strategy, including recruitment at Lutheran and Christian high schools. Faith-based secondary institutions
- Maintain retention of student-athletes
Facilitate academic support for the success of all student-athletes
Identify and coordinate areas of support needed for the student-athletes
Other assignments
- Collaborate with members of the Athletic Department to support department-wide initiatives.
- Assist with Game Administration and Supervision
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Skill Sets:
- Demonstrated experience in planning and directing a flag football program
- Experience working with an established budget
- Experience with successful recruitment and retention strategies.
- Exhibits a service mentality toward all stakeholders
- Maintains professional, accurate, and timely communication with all stakeholders.
- Improves work performance and that of others by being receptive to and appropriately sharing information
- Strong administrative skills, including related computer and technology skills
- Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Minimum Experience Required: 3-5 years flag football coaching experience; flag football athlete experience
Preferred Experience: Intercollegiate coaching with recruiting experience
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree; Master's preferred
