- Early Childhood Education Center
- Provide for the development of each child spiritually, socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally.
- Collaborate and plan with co teacher or assistant teacher in the implementation of the curriculum
- Supervise the implementation of curriculum by students serving as teachers
- Prepare, care for, and organize the environment, including opening the classroom and making it ready for parents and children
- Be responsible for the health and safety of the children
- Supervise university undergraduate and graduate students who are assigned to work in the classrooms
- Monitor small groups and/or free choice play time
- Keep daily records of attendance
- Maintain up to date portfolios on all children throughout the year as a means of assessment of learning
- Following standards set by DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services ), NLSA (National Lutheran School Association) and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children)
- Follow guidelines as employee of Concordia University as listed in Staff Handbook
- Promote Center's Mission/Vision statement
- Professional development
- Participate as a contributing member of the center's professional team in staff meetings, devotions, community activities and professional leadership
- Attendance for in service and staff meetings are expected, participation in specific center committees and community activities are voluntary
- Participate in at least 15 hours of professional training per year. These meetings may be during the day, weekend, or evenings
- Communication
- Maintain appropriate contact with and support of parents/families including newsletter, conferences, parent meetings, Curriculum Night and Thanksgiving service
