Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the part-time, temporary position of Summer Teacher Assistant. This position reports directly to the Director of the Early Childhood Education Center and is located in River Forest, IL.
The Summer Teacher Assistant works with the Lead Teacher to provide for the physical, social, cognitive, spiritual, and emotional development of the children in the Early Childhood Education Center through a nurturing, Christ-centered and developmentally appropriate environment. The anticipated dates for this position are from 5/5/2025 to 8/8/2025.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Provides for the development of each child spiritually, socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally
- Collaborates with the lead teacher to support SCALE curriculum by implementing plans outlined by the lead teacher
- Prepares and engages in the physical preparations and clean-up of classroom activities
- Monitors and maintains responsibility for the health and safety of the children
- Monitors small groups and/or free choice play time
- Helps monitor and supervise the work and attendance of lab students, observation/methods students, and student teachers
- Follows standards set by DCFS (Department of Child and Family Services, NLSA (National Lutheran School Association), and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children)
- Promotes the ECEC's Mission and Vision, and follows guidelines as outlined in the ECEC Staff Handbook and CUC Employee Handbook
- Serves as a substitute teacher center-wide if qualified
- Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Minimum Experience Required:
1 year of experience as a teacher assistant in an Early Childhood Education Center is preferred
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
