The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Concordia University, Irvine, CA, invites applications for a full-time faculty member in mathematics beginning in July 2025. The individual should demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarship in the discipline of mathematics. The faculty member will teach courses in our Enduring Question and Ideas Core Curriculum and other courses in the department, as well filling roles in advising, mentoring, assessment, program recruitment, and university service. CUI seeks an individual who values a Lutheran Christian educational approach to higher learning and who will promote the mission, purpose, and objectives of the university, committed to the Lutheran liberal arts tradition. Rank and salary will be determined by credentials and experience.
Qualifications: Terminal degree (PhD) in mathematics (or related field) preferred. MA or MS in mathematics or related fields accepted with excellent teaching skills. Competencies in computer science and programming are also desirable.
Appointment: The position is a full-time position that will require being on the Irvine Turtle Rock campus and comes with full rights as a full-time faculty member. The faculty will be expected to teach courses in CUI's Enduring Questions and Ideas Core Curriculum, as well as other courses in the department. They will be expected to participate in events related to the Q&I Curriculum on campus, including convocations and requirements of full-time faculty with respect to service to the Institution, the Academy, as well as to the church and community.
