What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Aid Counselor position at Concordia University - Irvine Ca?
Role: Interviews students to obtain information needed to determine eligibility for financial aid and performs other functions related to that position. All activities of this position are to make a contribution to the fulfillment of the mission of the university.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily:
- Package incoming undergraduate and all athletes (incoming and returning) students by following federal, state, NCAA and Concordia University policies and procedures.
- Use Banner for all financial aid processes
- Use ARMS for NCAA athletic compliance processes
- Responsible for all aspects financial aid related to NCAA
- Use government websites to review student information i.e. Web Grants, COD, FSA, NSLDS, etc.
- Counsel students and families
- Process incoming financial aid documents with efficiency to make sure students' files are completed and processed in a timely manner
- Manages the undergraduate student verification process (includes athletes)
- Process Professional Judgment appeals in regards to special family circumstances and communicate the results to undergraduate students
- Assist with admission new student initiatives (Open House, etc.)
- Assist with other related financial aid duties as mutually agreeable with the Director of Financial Aid
- Other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university;
- Two to three years' related experience and/or training;
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Full Time Staff
$23 - 25/hr
