The Admission Counselor position represents Concordia University at the frontline of the recruitment process. Their success in recruitment is critical to the on-going success of the University.
This position serves as a member of the Admission team in the department of undergraduate admission. This position is primarily responsible for developing and managing recruitment and enrollment activities for a territory, leveraging both part-time remote ambassadors and campus-based student workers. The enrollment counselor also collaborates with multiple departments, off-campus entities, and influencers to recruit and enroll new students at Concordia in support of campus enrollment goals. This is a full-time position with full-time benefits package.

Responsibilities:
- Recruits prospective students in a defined territory, exceeding goals when opportunities exist.
- Devises, implements and assesses recruitment plan and strategy in the assigned territory to include visiting high schools, attending college fairs, area receptions and events.
- Coordinates efforts of remote employees and on-campus student workers, along with on-campus faculty and staff resources, to optimize recruiting effectiveness.
- Initiates, plans and executes special on-campus events in coordination with other admission staff and faculty.
- Knows and understands all printed materials on admission and other office support systems such as registrar, financial aid and support services.
- Individualizes admission presentations to visitors during campus visits and at on-campus events. Is familiar with specific academic programs and the institutional philosophy of recruitment.
- Advises students and families of admission requirements and/or transfer guidelines.
- Determines student admission file suitability for admission decision and submits for acceptance.
- Collaborates with Financial Aid regarding student expected family contribution to determine federal and institutional financial resources available to meet the needs of the student.
- Oversees student financial aid worksheet process and submits to Financial Aid prior to mailing of Financial Aid Offer. Understands and communicates financial aid packages to new students effectively and accurately.
- Works closely with the Advancement, Alumni, and academic program areas to coordinate tours, off-site events, and visit opportunities.
- Is available and accessible to incoming students recruited and their parents to ease the transition from home to campus life; provides follow-up to students and parents via phone, letters, e-mail and scheduling of appointments.
- Develops and analyzes data of past productivity with recruitment projections and personal schedules in order to plan a strategy of visiting and cultivating other sources for recruiting students.
- Exercises discretion and independent judgement in evaluating program effectiveness, assessing outcomes and developing improved programming, showing flexibility in the achievement of goals for programs/events.
- Hires and manages student workforce to initiate communication such as phone calls, e-mails and letters to prospective students in managed territory.
- Provides monthly admission reports of recruitment territory to the Director of Enrollment Management Initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education-
- Undergraduate degree with liberal arts background.
- Student recruitment or related experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of SCT Banner software preferred.
- Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software preferred.
- Proficiency in use of software applications including Microsoft applications, databases, spreadsheets and word processing required.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate professionally with a diverse constituency.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
- Understanding of customer service principles and generational service needs.
- Ability to travel, rent vehicles, drive in large cities and fly in commercial aircrafts.
- Member of LCMS congregation preferred.
- Concordia University graduate preferred.
