Position Purpose:
The Director of Advancement Operations is responsible for directing, managing and overseeing constituent services, gift processing, data management and reporting, grant writing, endowment reporting, prospect identification, research, budget performance, and general operational functions necessary to support the fundraising and engagement initiatives of the Office of Institutional Advancement. The Director works closely with and on behalf of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
Responsibilities:
- Directs the internal operational support functions of the advancement office.
- Oversees the discovery, investigation and qualification of donor prospects.
- Coordinates the endowment processes, including reporting within the University and to involved constituents.
- Manages the submission of proposals and requests for support of the University, including departments and faculty, to private foundations and public charities.
- Manages the prospect research functions of the office.
- Manages the constituent service functions of the office, including responses to inquiries and requests, documentation, receipting, and acknowledgment of gifts.
- Working with the Gift Planning Counselor, manages the internal planned gift functions of the office, including data, anticipated receipt models, and documentation, as well as communication with estate representatives necessary to monitor and realize planned gifts.
- Manages the preparation, creation and issuance of reports, both within the office and for other offices and departments of the University.
- Manages, in coordination with the Senior Director of Advancement, the review, identification and assignment of donor statuses.
- Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing and Christ-centered team in ways that consistently reflect a biblical understanding of leadership, service to and love of neighbor, excellence and accuracy, kindness, humility, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
- Perform evaluations of direct reports, coaching, ensure timekeeping and attendance policies are in compliance for team to ensure Advancement Operations services are efficient and effective.
- Oversees the review, update and management of data, including data creation and revision, data integrity, and filing procedures, including data coordination.
- Assists the Vice President for Institutional Advancement with budget preparation and status monitoring for the Office.
- Assists the Vice President for Institutional Advancement with operational support for reporting, planning, work flow.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education-
- Bachelor's degree in area relevant to position
Experience-
- 3 or more years managing in an office environment
- 3 or more years experience with Advancement Operations or relative experience
- Non-profit, fundraising, or closely aligned experience preferred
Specialized Knowledge-
- Knowledge of prospect research and research methodologies is helpful
- Knowledge of donor relations, endowment, and planned gifting is helpful
Proficiencies-
- Proficiency in use of software applications including Microsoft applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing is required.
- Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to supervise, coach, and delegate work to multiple staff.
- Must possess excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.

- Highly organized and able to work under pressure to coordinate multiple requests and meet competing deadlines.
