OFFICE PROFILE :

The Division of Student Affairs has the responsibility of overall supervision of student life, student services and student support and includes residential education, wellness, academic advising, career services, student leadership, recreational programs and all activities related to student enrollment and retention. The Wellness Center is dedicated to providing high quality medical and psychological care to our students in a confidential and safe setting. The staff is committed to the overall wellness of students.

ROLE :

The full-time, 12-month, non-exempt Clinical Supervisor & Therapist for Counseling Services position is responsible for supervision of Counseling Services associates and interns. This position assists in promoting the development and maintenance of psychological counseling services which contribute to the academic success of our campus student community. This role will also assist with the administrative functions of the counseling services offered to Concordia students, including maintenance and development of wellness resources, training, and support of counseling staff. This position is 20% direct client care, 30% direct supervision (individual, triadic & group) and 50% administrative / general.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the below essential duties satisfactorily :

Clinical Duties

  • Provides direct counseling service hours to Concordia University Irvine students, using individual and group modalities
  • Responds to mental health crisis by taking on urgent and walk-in clients
  • Makes appropriate counseling referrals to on- and off-campus resources
  • Case management of students referred through a variety of programs, such as Helping Hands and ACC
  • Administer SASSI and ASSIST for Mandated Substance Use Disorder referrals.

Supervisory Duties

  • Supervises MSW, MFT, and PCC associates and interns, per professional board requirements
  • Develops supervision and evaluation skills
  • Reviews and signs off on notes for associates and interns
  • Recruits, onboards, and trains counseling associates and interns
  • Provide guidance and support to all supervisees during crisis situations.
  • Train supervisees on the procedures of administering SASSI and ASSIST and oversee cases
  • Administrative & General Duties

  • Completes appropriate tracking and documentation of counseling work
  • Works in a collaborative manner with the Wellness Center team
  • Maintains procedures and protocols that are in compliance with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
  • Acts as clinical liaison for intern placements with universities
  • Attends weekly Assessment and Care Committee meetings
  • Conducts interviews of therapist and intern applicants, and participates in the hiring process.
  • Completes appropriate tracking and documentation of counseling work
  • Develops and maintains counseling programs in coordination with other clinical supervisors and Associate Dean
  • Collects data necessary for assessment of departmental objectives and student learning outcomes
  • Develops and maintains appropriate procedures and protocols for provision of psychological care services
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the current risks faced by Counseling Services in higher education
  • Ensures appropriate scheduling of Counseling Services associates and interns
  • Attends Wellness Center staff meetings & other meetings, as requested
  • Participates in university sponsored events, as needed
  • Maintains and develops ongoing relationships with campus staff & faculty to assist in bridging students to counseling services
  • Creates curriculum on various mental health related topics and provide training as needed to faculty and staff
  • Promotes counseling services to the campus community
  • Assesses needs of therapists and student mental health needs, in order to plan and arrange appropriate training for therapists and program development
  • Provides ongoing consultation support to campus faculty and staff regarding the wellness and care of students.
  • Assists in development of marketing strategies and promotion of counseling services through different platforms, in collaboration with other departments such as marketing
  • Other duties, as assigned
  • EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :

    Master's degree in counseling or related field; one to two years of supervisory experience; experience in a college / university counseling center, preferred.

    LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION :

  • Active license in California Board of Behavioral Sciences in one of the following
  • Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT)

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist
  • Current supervision training
  • Have been licensed for at least 2 years
  • Have met the 15-hour minimum clinical supervisor training requirement, in accordance with BBS
  • Full-Time, 12-month, Exempt
