Position Summary
This position oversees and directs the production, distribution, operations and employees for the concrete plant facility while meeting the demands of the operation and continually balancing the competing needs of maintenance and production. Abides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assures production, and distribution of a ready mixed concrete plant is handled in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by the department/company.
Implements plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
Determines work procedures and assigns duties to personnel associated with the batching and hauling of concrete.
Provides up-to-date status on support or production reporting activities to appropriate parties.
Coordinates and oversees any updates and / or alterations in plant design.
Reports support information for the maintenance plan.
Directs and inspects personnel performance for quality, quantity and timeliness. Documents and provides feedback on performance to Plant Superintendent as necessary.
Responsible for general appearance, safety and security of grounds and buildings, equipment, and machinery.
Conducts safety meetings and plant safety/environmental inspections as required.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job will direct, oversee, and assure the work of Plant personnel -- Concrete Truck Drivers, and batch operations personnel (approximately 20-30 people.) The position does not have hire/fire authority. Will advise and assist in performance evaluation of personnel.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
- 5 years in a ready mixed concrete production role, or related role, with 2 years in leadership; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Driver’s License
- Commercial Driver's License helpful but not required
Skills and Abilities
- Must have a good overall technical knowledge of plant operations, safety, training, environmental compliance, equipment and construction projects
- Must have excellent demonstrated leadership skills. Must be detail oriented with an ability to coordinate multiple tasks.
- The position may be required to be "on-call" to respond to emergency situations. The position may require extended work hours to meet business production needs--may include nights and weekends.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must also have the ability to deal with a variety of situations related to directing and motivating employees.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Other Qualifications
- Must be able to read and understand operations manuals, equipment instructions, safety rules, etc. and write reports and communicate with management and subordinates to solve problems, provide instruction, etc.
