Position Snapshot: The Batch Plant Operator is responsible for batching concrete in mixer trucks. This position ensures the production of high-quality concrete in a safe, timely, and efficient manner by keeping equipment clean and maintained and monitoring the supply of raw materials.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Manage the concrete batching process, weighing and mixing aggregates, cement, water, and other materials according to specified recipes.
- Monitor and adjust mix proportions to maintain consistency and quality.
- Maintain accurate records of production, including batch weights, quantities, and material usage.
- Track raw materials inventory, ordering additional cement as needed to avoid production delays.
- Clean and perform preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning and minimize downtime, working closely with maintenance staff to resolve issues.
- Follow safety protocols to maintain and promote a safe work environment.
- All other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Background in concrete manufacturing.
- Knowledge of concrete mix designs.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to assure delivery requirements.
- Ability to operate Windows computer.
- Commitment to safety.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- NCDOT Concrete Batch Technician certification, or willingness to be trained for and achieve certification.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I certification, or willingness to be trained for and achieve certification.
- NPCA PQS Level I certification, or willingness to be trained for and achieve certification.
Requirements:
- Must reside in the continental U.S. within the assigned region. No relocation assistance is provided.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
Typical Schedule: Work is generally performed Monday-Friday, starting at 5:30 am and ending when the day’s production is completed. Overtime and/or weekend work may be required during heavy production periods.
Typical Physical Demands: Physical agility and may require any or all of the following: standing, sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, bending/stooping, lifting (50lbs. max), pushing/pulling (50lbs. max).
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a production environment, with ambient weather/air conditions, loud noise, dangerous equipment, and variable lighting. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in all production and loading areas. Subject to heat and cold temperatures depending on season. Floor area may have tripping hazards, wet surfaces, and other hazards throughout the workday. Cleaning duties include power washing and chipping in small, non-permit required confined spaces without the ability to stand while inside of the mixer.
Compensation: Based on skills, knowledge, and experience.
