Position Snapshot: The Estimator supports the outside sales staff and Sales Manager. This position provides estimates of precast concrete products and pipe to the construction industry market. It is a multifaceted role, requiring solid organizational skills to handle a large volume of work. Accuracy and the ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner are imperative.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provides takeoffs on civil plans, estimates projects, and provides quotations to customers.
- Services existing accounts and organizes daily work schedule through telecommunication tools (e.g., telephone and/or email.)
- Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as monthly quote logs, weekly work plans, and monthly analysis.
- Utilizes online plan services such as CDC News/IsqFt to obtain and print plans for estimates.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations if required.
- Provides historical records by maintaining logs on bidding.
- Contributes to team effort and works closely with outside sales.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience in the precast concrete and pipe industry.
- Understands civil engineering plans.
- Strong presentation, communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Self motivated and results oriented.
- Working technical knowledge of precast concrete manufacturing and construction site application of finished product.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or at least two (2) years of sales or technical experience in the precast concrete industry.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Requirements:
- Must reside in the continental U.S. within the assigned region. No relocation assistance is provided.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
Typical Schedule: Work is generally performed Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week depending on workload. Overtime evening or weekend work may be required during heavy quoting periods.
Typical Physical Demands: Physical agility, which may require any or all of the following: standing, sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, bending/stooping, lifting (50lbs. max), pushing/pulling (50lbs. max).
Working Conditions: Office work will be performed in clean, climate-controlled areas, with fluorescent lighting. May occasionally enter the production environment or visit job sites with ambient weather/air conditions, loud noise, dangerous equipment, and variable lighting. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in all production and loading areas.
Compensation: Based on skills, knowledge, and experience.
