Position Snapshot: The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for performing a series of highly diversified duties related to the installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of all automated equipment used in the daily production of reinforced precast concrete pipe products. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this position also oversees maintenance and repair of building systems and facilities equipment, as well as industrial forklifts, loaders, and other rolling equipment. Work is performed in compliance with all applicable safety policies and regulations, and in accordance with predictive maintenance plans and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Organize and oversee the schedules and work of maintenance staff.
• Train maintenance department staff.
• Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
• Handle discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department.
• Evaluate/assess equipment and plant building systems to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
• Develop routine maintenance procedures and plan preventive maintenance schedules.
• Ensure maintenance and repair work is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
• Assist with departmental budget estimates and costs of specific repair projects.
• Monitor all areas for compliance with company safety programs, rules and regulations.
• Perform emergency/unscheduled repairs to minimize loss of production time.
• Fabricate, install and repair a variety of steel molds, forms and structures.
• Perform any other duties related to the installation, maintenance, or repair of plant systems and production equipment (mobile or stationery), such as batch plant, conveyors, form equipment, manufacturing and de-molding machinery.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to read schematics and blueprints to troubleshoot and solve electronic /mechanical issues.
• An ability to communicate effectively with manufacturing equipment technical support, via phone and/or e-mail.
• Ability to lead and manage the maintenance staff to achieve department goals and objectives.
• Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
• Knowledge of relevant and applicable state safety and environmental regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic production/ manufacturing equipment and systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Qualifications:
• Requires an applicable associate’s degree, a career certificate from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 years experience in a manufacturing/production setting.
• 5 years of steel fabrication in a shop environment building boxes, forms, tanks, vaults, etc.
• Strong electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, welding and industrial skills with some PLC experience a plus.
• Equipment to be used: General: hand tools, power tools, welders, ladders, man-lift equipment.
Requirements:
• Must reside in the continental U.S. within the assigned region. No relocation assistance is provided.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a criminal background check.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
Typical Schedule: Work is generally performed Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week depending on workload and production demands.
Typical Physical Demands: Physical agility, which may require any or all of the following: standing, sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, bending/stooping, lifting (50lbs. max), pushing/pulling (50lbs. max).
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a maintenance and production environment, with ambient air conditions, loud noise, dangerous equipment, and variable lighting. Dirty and dusty conditions may at times require respirator protection. Controlled Confined Space work and working with chemicals. The facility manager maintains complete list of SDS’s on site at all times. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in all production and loading areas.
Compensation: This is a full-time role with a competitive salary based on skills, knowledge, and experience.
