CP&P is seeking an experienced QC Technician to join the team at our Ashland, VA precast plant. In this role, you’ll be responsible for helping implement and execute daily tasks of the Quality Control program. You will inspect, test, sort, sample, and/or weigh raw materials or processed, machined, fabricated, or assembled products for defects. You will use precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Conduct and document Pre- and Post-Pour Inspections of precast products.
• Conduct and document Final Inspection of product before delivery. Reconcile final inspection documentation for shipments.
• Test and document fresh concrete in accordance with industry standards.
• Test and document hardened concrete in accordance with industry standards.
• Update written logs and records of QC tasks.
• Interact with government and industry inspectors as needed.
• Monitor quality of, and test conformance to, standards of incoming raw materials.
• Assist QC Manager with DOT and NPCA certification inspections.
• Be involved with operations at the batch plant to ensure quality of concrete and proper testing and documentation.
• All other duties as assigned by the QC Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Prior experience in quality control functions in a concrete manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to assure delivery requirements.
• Clear oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to keep accurate records.
• Ability to follow documented procedures and standards.
• Superior time management skills and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Ability to frequently lift heavy objects.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, weighing and testing equipment.
• Excellent attendance is a must.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• VDOT and MSHA Hydraulic Cement Concrete Plant Technician certification, or willingness to be trained for and achieve certification.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician- Grade 1 certification, or willingness to be trained for and achieve certification.
• NPCA PQS I certification, or willingness to be trained for and achieve certification.
Requirements:
• Must reside in the continental U.S. within the assigned region. No relocation assistance is provided.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
Typical Schedule: Work is generally performed Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week depending on workload and production demands. Overtime and weekend work will be required during heavy production periods.
Typical Physical Demands: Physical agility, which may require any or all the following: standing, sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, bending/stooping, lifting (50 lbs. max), pushing/pulling (50 lbs. max).
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a production environment, with ambient weather/air conditions, loud noise, dangerous equipment, and variable lighting. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in all production and loading areas.
