Position Snapshot: This position is responsible for directing and coordinating all aspects of continuous improvement surrounding company activities within the assigned region of 4–5 operating locations, driving the organization towards efficient operations. This position will require about 75% travel throughout the assigned territory in order to lead all regional CI activities for the deployment of operational excellence tools and support the building of an operational excellence culture. The ideal candidate is a progressive and mature individual, flexible, and able to adapt to changes at a moment’s notice, with high energy and strong interpersonal skills.
 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the deployment of Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen concepts and principles and methodology within assigned locations in the region.
  • Support pre-launch and post-launch Kaizen activity for new products in any CP&P plant.
  • Confer with General Manager to establish CI goals/objectives and overall direction.
  • Conduct weekly or monthly progress calls and track progress of meeting established goals and objectives.
  • Work closely with Plant Managers to provide support as needed, and/or provide guidance to mitigate difficulties meeting production goals, plan activities, or performance targets.
  • Network with internal/external resources to bring best practices to the organization.
  • Engage the Corporate leadership team in setting and achieving goals utilizing Lean initiatives, including collaborating with key SLT members to fully implement and assure sustaining mechanisms are in place.
  • Engage production associates through activities such as the MDI (Managing for Daily Improvement) program.
  • Assist plants within the assigned region to develop Annual Plans (APs) and Quarterly Transformation Plans, based on KPI goals, using the Kaizen Methodology, including meeting financial targets.
  • Facilitate and lead the CI process by identifying training needs, and/or providing training in problem-solving methodology (Kaizen, 8 Waste, 5S, Standard work, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, etc.)
  • Train and develop skills of the plant CI Managers and other selected local team members by supporting Kaizen Training (CI Bootcamp), conducting other Kaizen events, and developing supporting training material.

  • Self-starter, able to lead change and make independent and informed decisions.
  • Production, engineering and/or college background preferred.
Competencies:
  • 5-10 years of proven experience in directing, implementing, or managing organizational continuous improvement and/or operational excellence initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills to adequately assess needs in the assigned region, as well as troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective strategic planning abilities for the design, development, and deployment of improvement strategies.
  • Excellent technical, project management, change management, and outstanding written and verbal communication skills are essential to the success of this position.
  • Ability to inspire employee engagement and motivate others by leading with Emotional Intelligence principles and ‘servant leadership,’ passion, and optimism.
  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit through constructive and SBI feedback models.
Minimum Requirement(s):
  • Must reside in the continental U.S. within the assigned region. No relocation assistance will be provided.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; college degree, professional certification or equivalent industry related experience strongly preferred.
 
Typical Schedule: Work is generally performed Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week depending on workload and job demands. This position will require frequent travel within the assigned region, up to 75%.
 
Typical Physical Demands: Physical agility, which may require any or all of the following: standing, sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, bending/stooping, lifting (50lbs. max), pushing/pulling (50lbs. max).
