CP&P is seeking a knowledgeable, skilled, and experienced Yard Supervisor to join the team at our Jessup, MD pipe plant. In this role, you'll be a vital part of the organization, overseeing daily operations, ensuring efficient truck loading, product storage, and yard organization. You'll lead and coordinate a team of forklift operators and patch crew members -- keeping everything running smoothly and safely. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, industry experience, and a hands-on approach to problem solving.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Must be able to improve working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, cost) and increase subordinates’ skills and capabilities.
• Assist Plant Manager in improving a system of yard control and organization that includes equipment upkeep, safety, truck loading and performance measurements.
• Provide direct supervision all employee in the Yard Crew.
• Plans and assigns work for employees on a daily basis.
• Works with dispatch on keeping all daily loads on track and inventory tracking.
• Implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
• Ensures effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development.
• Maintains the product storage areas in a clean and organized fashion.
• Operate individual heavy lift trucks of various sizes and weights.
• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor; clean equipment.
• Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
• Ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees and supervisors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Supervision experience, including employee retention, performance review and discipline.
• Knowledge of employee training and development.
• Measurement of performance to goals and standards.
• An ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations.

Equipment Used: General: hand tools, power tools, fixed machinery, heavy forklifts, and office computers.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Five (5) or more years of related experience.
• Heavy equipment operating with industrial forklift experience is a must.
Requirements:
• Must reside in the continental U.S. within the assigned region. No relocation assistance is provided.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
Typical Physical Demands: Physical agility, which may require any or all the following: standing, sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, bending/stooping, lifting (50 lbs. max), pushing/pulling (50 lbs. max).
Working Conditions: Work is generally performed in a production environment with ambient weather/air conditions, loud noise, dangerous equipment, and variable lighting. Chemicals: facility management to review complete inventory of SDS’s prior to offering position. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in all production and loading areas.
