The Role

As an Art Director based in our New York office, you will work on a wide variety of commercial projects and content campaigns requiring 360 creative expertise (graphic design, photo, video, experiential, digital, print, social, etc).

Reporting directly to the commercial Senior Creative Director, you will work on a team within the Condé Nast Commercial Creative organization, collaborating regularly with editorial stakeholders at brands within Condé Nast’s portfolio. The ideal candidate will be a multidimensional and conceptual creative who can bring experience and knowledge from a wide variety of disciplines and industries: travel, luxury, beauty, home, technology and auto. You’re an expert in visual storytelling, and will apply a distinct point of view to bold work for our advertising partners.

Individual & Team Responsibilities:

  • Deliver innovative and relevant art direction for multi-channel campaigns, branded content and partnership activations across: print, web, social, video and events.
  • Develop the overall art direction and visual treatment for client pitches, campaigns and content programs.
  • Manage the art direction and visual concepts of cultural tentpole events in direct collaboration with respective editorial, events production, and vendor teams.
  • Partner with copywriters and other creative specialists on the development of conceptual and executable ideas under the direction of the senior creative director.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams while creating visually compelling materials for presentations (conceptual overviews, moodboards, talent references, digital mock-ups, etc).
  • Pitch creative concepts directly to clients, and develop ideas that fit within the provided budgets and strategic objectives.
  • Ensure Condé Nast Commercial Creative ideas authentically balance the voices of our editorial brands with those of our advertisers.
  • Serve as a creative lead on projects and ensure productions deliver to Condé Nast and client standards/expectations.
  • Nurture relationships with cross-functional teams in the U.S. and abroad, and bring an inspiring commercial perspective when collaborating with editorial teams.
  • Contribute to a team culture of creative risk-taking and thinking outside the box.

Essential Skills & Requirements

  • 5 years professional experience art directing in media, fashion brands or premium creative agencies.
  • Strong visual presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in-office in NYC 3 days per week.
  • Excellent ability with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop & InDesign) and Google Slides. Motion design and basic video editing skills nice-to-have.
  • Extensive experience on set and with pre- and post-production processes for video and still photography (digital and print); adept at briefing creative teams and working with production companies.
  • Passion for/experience in industry categories relevant to Architectural Digest community and audiences: fashion, luxury, entertainment, beauty, travel, and technology.
  • A portfolio demonstrating a visually ambitious body of work encompassing 360 creative campaigns (content and advertising), and a strong sense of fashion storytelling.
  • Knowledge of new media and technology, A.I. and web3 is a plus.
  • Highly organized, and skilled with time-management and workload prioritization.
  • Passionate about brands, ideas, stories, design and experiential, and a cultural point of view that translates to brand campaigns.

The expected base salary range for this position is from $69,000-$113,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.

In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation.
