Location:
New York, NYThis position works within our Global Business Affairs team to support and grow our commercial content business. The Senior Manager has a broad set of responsibilities, including negotiation and tracking of talent and production deals, development of content business strategies, and implementation of policies across digital platforms and global markets. This position will serve as a subject matter expert in deal-making across talent, marketing and content creation teams.
A strong candidate will have experience drafting and negotiating complex entertainment agreements and have a familiarity with talent, IP, and other entertainment law issues. The ideal candidate for the Senior Manager role will feel comfortable taking a proactive role shaping the future of our global commercial content business while navigating a busy, matrixed media organization.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Structure, negotiate and draft terms and agreements (with an emphasis on branded content) for talent, clients, and distributors for the development, production, and distribution of digital video, publishing assets, and events.
Assist in the development and management of a comprehensive content and talent tracking system to track precedent and performance for both talent and content.
Work with business leadership and human resources to administer and track talent opportunities, conflicts of interest, and compensation.
Collaborate with and advise Legal teams on business-related terms and risks as well as best business practices.
Advise brand leadership and consult with internal stakeholders on corporate business principles and implementation operational guidelines.
Assist with internal talent approval processes for participation in branded content and external opportunities.
Work closely with sales and marketing departments to determine terms and rates for digital and traditional content distribution and licensing.
Handle day-to-day business affairs issues, including reviewing and drafting a wide range of agreements, advising on best business practices, and responding to timely issues while implementing sound business and legal judgement.
Help create, implement, and maintain business standards and policies associated with branded content and IP management globally.
Provide general business affairs counsel in a rapidly changing, extremely competitive international media business.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
3-5 years' experience in business affairs at a global media company, production company or studio.
JD degree from top tier law school and at least 1-3 years' experience practicing entertainment law at a nationally recognized law firm or comparable in-house media company.
Experience with development and production for digital video (e.g., talent deals, production issues, co-production, licensing/acquisitions and other commercial agreements).
Experience with international dealmaking a plus.
Experience with branded content a plus.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical capabilities and judgment in order to identify and implement effective solutions while under intense scrutiny and time pressure.
Ability to work proactively and independently under tight time frames in fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral) with an emotionally intelligent communication style; positive attitude and can-do approach required.
Base Pay Range: $100,000 - $130,000
