Condor Earth has an immediate opening for a Staff Geologist in our Stockton, CA office.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Geologist works under supervision of a Senior Geologist/Manager to prepare proposals, cost estimates, routine and one-off monitoring reports, work plans, research regulations, perform file reviews, and conduct fieldwork for site investigations and remediation under the direction of a project manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Requires knowledge of or ability to rapidly learn environmental and health and safety regulations.
- Conducts Environmental Site Assessments and site inspections.
- Conduct all aspects of subsurface investigations of contaminated sites, including permitting, drilling, sampling, assisting project geologist in preparation of work plans and reports, and maintenance of regulatory relations associated with geotechnical and environmental projects.
- Map job sites, sample soil and ground water during UST removals and over-excavations, monitor and map soil excavations and over-excavations, monitor and sample treatment systems (pump and treat, soil-vapor extraction, etc.), and air-monitoring.
- Prepare project deliverables (work plans, correspondence, reports, etc.) including technical writing under the supervision of project manager, preparation of drawings (site maps, groundwater contour maps, groundwater gradient maps, geologic cross-sections, isoconcentration contour maps, etc.), calculations (gradients, soil volumes, mass-balance, air volumes, etc.), and data review and compilation (spreadsheet tables, word processing tables, graphs, etc.).
- Support the Engineering division with Geotechnical field investigations; log geologic and geotechnical boreholes during drilling and Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) testing.
- On a limited basis, communicate/correspond with clients and regulatory agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in geology, earth science or a closely related discipline including two or more courses in field geology, or equivalent.
- Two or more years in environmental site investigation and remediation and/or geotechnical site investigation and assessment.
- Experience with drilling rigs in the field preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office systems.
- Driver's License
Salary : $66,560 - $74,625
