Description
Objective
The staff accountant position includes preparing various levels of financial transactions and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance all within a timely manner working with internal and external customers.
Responsibilities/Expectations
- Prepare monthly journal entries within a 10 day closing schedule
- Maintain financial schedules on a monthly basis
- Maintain GL account reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts
- Prepare and maintain transactions and reports for multiple ledgers
- Responsible for monthly preparation and filing of tax returns for state agencies including sales tax, use tax, and beverage tax
- Become versed in the inventory process and how it impacts financials and the general ledger
- Partner with the warehouse to research inventory variances through analysis of inventory adjustments
- Work with external audit teams
- Process product/credit invoices for all suppliers
- Assist with daily scanning of checks to the bank and balancing daily delivery routes
- Follow up and respond to customer/vendor inquiries in a timely manner
- Cross train with other positions within the accounting department to serve as a backup
- Various duties as assigned
Qualifications
Position Requirements
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Minimum 2 - 5 years of accounting experience required
- Professional communication skills with all levels of the organization
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to multitask and pivot as demands change
Education Requirements
Position requires 4-year degree in accounting, finance or equivalent. MBA preferred but not required. Prior beverage distribution experience helpful.
