The General Fitness Exam will target the assessment of job related qualifications and readiness to successfully undertake the responsibilities of the position. The Performance Examination will assess fundamental knowledge and ability for this trade.
For those passing the General Fitness / Performance Examination:
3. Structured Oral Interview – TBD
The Structured Oral Interview will be before a panel and contain questions that assess technical knowledge, experience, and one's general fitness for successful performance in the position.
A total score will be computed using weighted scores on all testing components. Applicants must receive a passing score on the oral examination to be placed on the year-long eligibility list. The top 3 ranks (scores) on the eligibility list are eligible for the hiring interview for each vacancy in this classification within the life of the list.
BASIC POSITION FUNCTION
Under direction, to plan, direct, prepare and assist in the administration of the District budget, financial forecasts, financial statements and supervise and evaluate the work of technical and clerical staff; perform related work as required.Plans, organizes, assigns and directs the staff and activities of the District's accounts payable function directly and through subordinate personnel;
Assists the Director, Fiscal Services in the preparation of the annual budget; prepares a variety of periodic financial reports;
Assists in the Preparation of Tax and Revenue Anticipation Note Issues and Certificates of Participation Issues;
Assists in the development and implementation of District accounting and related fiscal policies, procedures and regulations;
Participates in a variety of administrative meetings;
Assists in providing support for collective bargaining activities such as resource information, analysis of costs and fact finding;
Participates in the selection, training and development of staff, conducts performance appraisals and makes recommendations for disciplinary actions, promotions and related employment actions;
Assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of the Director, Fiscal Services.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensure that projects assigned to the accounts payable section are organized and completed in a timely manner.
Ensure that all bills are paid and transfers completed in a timely manner.
Ensure that accounts payable personnel are effectively supervised and evaluated.
Ensure that the accounts payable section workload is distributed to obtain maximum efficiency.

Any combination equivalent to sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed below.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited university with a Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or related field of study.
*Alternate variations of education/experience that would likely yield the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered as acceptable in meeting minimum entrance requirements to qualify for participation in the examination process. Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of governmental accounting in a school district and applicable codes, regulations and reporting requirements;
Principles and practices of budgeting, revenue forecasting and cash flow analysis;
Basic financial analysis and research procedures;
Computer applications in financial record keeping and reporting;
Principles of internal audit and business management;
Basic principles of supervision and training.
Ability to:
Plan, organize, supervise, formally evaluate and direct professional accounting and related financial activities, directly and through assigned personnel;
Prepare clear, concise and comprehensive financial reports;
Communicate effectively orally and in writing;
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
