Position Summary
Administrative Part-time Replacement Position (One-year contract)
The Part-time Head Coach, Women’s Volleyball is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the technical, tactical, and physical components of the women’s varsity volleyball program. This program must prepare the student athletes for successful competition within the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA).
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work on-site three to four days per week, at the Doon campus located at 299 Doon Valley Dr. in Kitchener. Hours of work are evening, weekend, and periodic weekday daytime hours. Travel will be required for matches and team activities off-site. Salary commensurate with experience.

General Aspects Of The Program
- The competitive season begins in September and runs until March with Ontario Championships held in late February and National Championships in March
- The team practices multiple times a week and participates in a seasonal high performance training program
- Competitions are played on-site for home games and off-site for away games
- The off-season training program will take place once a week from May to August
- Support personnel include assistant coaches and an athletic therapist who are present at practices and games
- Develops the overall program plan for women’s volleyball, which includes a comprehensive strategy around training, practices, games, and program excellence
- Identifies and recruits academically strong student athletes
- Creates and facilitates a multi-year athlete recruitment program
- In collaboration with the Athletics department, supports the development of recruitment events to increase awareness and profile of the women’s volleyball program
- Maintains effective communications and administrative systems amongst coaches, players, athletic and facility staff
- Completes adherence to and support of OCAA and Conestoga policies and procedures
- Organizes and leads related competitions and activities (e.g. tournaments, clinics etc.)
- Ensures program goals and objectives are aligned with the Athletics department’s mission, vision and values
- Provides an inclusive and holistic environment for student-athlete development
- Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury
- Oversees adherence and expectations required by the Athletics department regarding academics, student behaviors and other outcomes as required
- Develops and fosters relationships to help boost and enhance the women’s volleyball program (alumni, community members, fundraising events, etc.)
- Must hold a minimum of National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Competition-Introduction certification; Competition-Development certification is an asset
- Post-secondary education is considered an asset
- Minimum four years of experience coaching 16 years old and up
- Possessing four or more years of coaching at the collegiate level is considered an asset
- Strong association with local club systems and high schools is considered an asset
- Must be of good character and value the student-athlete experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of student athlete recruitment strategies
- Possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Sound administrative skills and strong motivational abilities
- Be committed to fair play and always represent Conestoga professionally
- The candidate must hold values consistent with those of Conestoga College in developing student athletes with strong academic standards while cultivating a competitive women’s program
- Completion of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector check is required
- Access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel off-site for matches and team activities
