Under the direction of the Manager, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Professional Resource Centre (PRC), the incumbent will plan and deliver continuous professional learning and development for the early years’ community in the Waterloo Region. They will guide and mentor those working in the early years’ community to align their programs and practices with local and provincial pedagogy.
The successful candidate will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement with one day remote and four days on-site at the Doon campus located at 299 Doon Valley Drive in Kitchener.

Responsibilities
- Creating and implementing professional development needs assessment within the community
- Identifying national, provincial, and local trends that contribute to quality early years’ programs
- Creating a priority plan for continuous professional learning activities
- Creating and implementing professional learning activities that align with national, provincial, and local directives of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Aligning professional learning activities with provincial and local directives and early years’ quality standards
- Communicating and collaborating with early years’ leaders in the Waterloo Region
- Developing and delivering quality professional learning activities that are responsive to individual and community needs by creating and implementing various professional learning activities (i.e. workshops, symposiums, learning series), creating and leading communities of practice, and guiding and mentoring educators working in early years’ programs in Waterloo Region
- Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with members of the college and members of the early years’ community locally and provincially
- Sharing information about the activities and programs of the ECE PRC
- Collaborating with faculty and program teams across the college to inform professional development plan and activities
- Communicating respectfully and collaboratively while upholding confidentiality and professional standards
- Providing consultation and support where required
- Participating on community committees when invited
- Organizing and developing administrative procedures and paper flow to ensure the efficient operation of roles and responsibilities of the position by maintaining records as appropriate, organizing information and data, ordering of resources and materials, and maintaining filing system for workflow efficiency
- Minimum two-year diploma in Early Childhood Education is required
- Minimum five years of practical experience working directly with children, families and the early learning sector is required
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with no terms, conditions, and limitations is required
- Demonstrated ability to support the professional learning and development of adults in the areas of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Experience in supporting capacity building through consultation is an asset
- Excellent communication and computer skills
- Fluency in French is an asset
- Established relationships with the early learning sector in the Region of Waterloo are an asset
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required
