What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electric Distribution Construction Coordinator position at Conexon?
Conexon is a rapidly growing company working with Rural Electric Cooperatives to build advanced fiber to the home (FTTH) networks nationwide. We are currently looking for an Electric Distribution Construction Supervisor to join the Construction Management team.
We are looking for qualified candidates for onsite make-ready supervision that have experience in all facets of electric distribution construction. This candidate should have a strong understanding of electric distribution line construction and of the process to make the poles ready for fiber attachments. Supervisors must be organized and have good written and verbal communication skills to communicate with clients, cooperative members, and co-workers.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Make-ready evaluation and proposed solutions
- Management of engineering and electric distribution line construction contractors
- Attend safety and tailgate meetings – JSA checks
- Scheduling with timeline production and tracking
- Production verification and invoice reconciliation with production
- Cost control for the client and Conexon
- Weekly status reporting
Job Qualifications:
- Electrical distribution engineering, construction or staking experience
- Strong knowledge of electric distribution design and construction, including poles, devices, equipment and ability to change pole design or framing to suit fiber plant installation
- Understanding of construction work order processes and ability to read work orders
- Knowledge of OSHA electrical safety standards and PPE requirements
- Understanding of RUS electric assembly units
- Thorough understanding of NESC standards and clearances
- Knowledge of utility attachments, ROW permitting, construction and quality control.
- Ability to read and navigate with electronic maps and GPS
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of commonly used co-op staking software packages is a plus. (NISC, SEDC, Milsoft)
- Ability to work from a mobile office in the field – laptop, iPad, smartphone, etc.
- Strong oral and written communication and employee supervision skills
This does not mean that the supervisor must perform all of these tasks, but the applicant will manage these areas of responsibility.
