Our client, in partnership with Conexus Recruiting, seeks a talented Director of Construction Accounting to join their Finance and Accounting Team. This role has served as a steppingstone to higher levels of upper management. This role is open, in fact, because of the promotion of the prior holder of this seat.
Job Title: Director of Construction Accounting
Location: northern San Fernando Valley. Our client will pay for relocation expenses for the hired candidate if living outside the Southern California geographical area.
Job Status (direct hire, consulting, consulting with possibility of hire) – This role is a direct hire role.
Job Site Status (onsite/hybrid/remote) – Our client has an onsite job site status.
Compensation – Salary range is $215,000 to $265,000year. Our client offers an array of benefits, including health insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid time off (PTO).
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION ACCOUNTING
Construction Accounting (Strategic)
- Analyze the impact of all construction projects on corporate cash flow and financial reporting.
- Develop “red flag” indicators of all construction projects with the likelihood of new or excessive costs.
Construction Accounting (Operational)
- Review all construction contracts.
- Review all documentations (job cost reports, budgets, construction schedules, etc.).
- Ensure all change orders are properly done.
- Draft technical memos to support all revenue recognition issues with a change order component.
- Work with project management teams to perform cost variance analysis and to validate estimates-at-completion.
Miscellaneous
- Accept all relevant tasks as given by upper management.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION ACCOUNTING
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a comparable major.
- At least ten (10) years of progressive accounting experience.
- At least three (3) years of supervisory/managerial experience.
- Current or prior industry experience in construction, infrastructure, and/or large-scale capital projects (may be a person with only public accounting experience if he/she has construction clients).
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Ability to travel at least 33% of the time.
