TITLE: Forestry Advisory Committee Members
One (1) 2-year term Tribal Member Woodcutter vacancy
Two (2) 2-year term Tribal Member Small Logger vacancies
LOCATION: Forestry Office, Ronan, MT
Meetings will be held once a month
SALARY: Honorarium only
CLOSING DATE: Monday, February 10, 2025 at 5:30 p.m.
DUTIES:
The Advisory Committee will be charged with assisting in developing a socio-economically
appropriate system to ensure a future in small logging and woodcutting on the Flathead
Indian Reservation; help ensure that Tribal Forestry practices uphold the Code of Federal
Regulations, Forest Management Plan, Timber Use Policy and CSKT Forestry Mission
Statement to provide sound environmental stewardship to preserve, perpetuate, protect
and enhance natural resources and ecosystems; and help ensure the collectively-owned
tribal timber resources are managed in a way that promotes individual tribal member
economic opportunity along with generating revenue for the Tribal Government and
protecting wildlife and natural resources. The Advisory Committee shall consist of two (2)
Tribal Council members, two (2) Tribal Forestry employees, two (2) small loggers, and two
(2) woodcutters.
Tribal Council policy adopted in March 2007 states:
“An employee of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai who is applying for a
board or committee vacancy is required to submit along with the Letter of
Interest, a letter signed by the immediate supervisor and the Department
Head authorizing the employee to apply for and serve on the board or
committee. Any Tribal employee serving on a board or committee that is not
directly related to the position the person holds in the Tribal organization, is
required to use leave or leave-without-pay to attend all meetings, participate
in any activity associated with the board or committee, or for any travel
related to the board or committee. Tribal employees are restricted to serving
on no more than one (1) board at any time.”
