Substitute Teacher (3) Three Positions

Tribal School

Department of Human Services

Hourly Wage : $22.17 / Intermittent / On-Call

This is a professional teaching position for the academic subject areas required by the Yakama Nation Tribal School. Content areas are but not limited to the following : English, Language Arts, Reading, Math, Science, History, Business, Health, Project Based Learning (PBL), Physical Education, and Special Education. This position also provides support services.

Examples of Work Performed :

Provides a safe and healthy environment for students by designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating lessons and student progress.

Collect, record, report student performance data, and maintain data by gathering information on attendance, progress, and grades.

Possess skills in developing and implementing strategies based on strengths and deficits of individual students. Provide daily instruction that produces lessons that illustrate an understanding of key concepts.

Provide daily instruction in the main area that produces lessons that illustrate an understanding of key concepts.

Assist in planning and participate in various cultural activities by developing and maintaining knowledge of Yakama History and Culture.

Supervise education assistant in class by giving assignments and evaluating work.

Communicate with administration and special education teacher to identify and offer effective support to special needs students.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Knowledge of the use of computer, printers, TV, DVD, copier, fax, telephone, vehicle, laminator, video camera, and other audio / visual equipment, etc.

Knowledge of Washington Administrative Code (WAC).

Assist students by acting as a class advisor.

Assist students by referring and working with administration, counselor, and parents.

Supervise students by monitoring at lunch, after school, detention, and in-house suspension as needed.

Actively participates in faculty meetings.

Attend Parent / Teacher conferences by planning for and informing parents.

Provides an environment that is motivational and encouraging to build a positive self-concept.

Keep classroom supplied by ordering materials as needed.

Maintain student attendance data.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Minimum Requirements :

Must have Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement or special Emergency Endorsement.

Bachelor's degree in education or related subject.

Maintain current Washington State Teacher's Certificate by attending workshops and classes.

Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

Required to pass pre-employment drug test.

Ability to complete background check according to Yakama Nation Tribal School requirements.

Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.

Ability to obtain a Fist Aide / CPR card.

Must have no history of abuse or neglect.

Must have no history of drug or alcohol abuse.
