Clinical duties involve both direct (in person) and indirect (via phone or on-line) patient care activities requiring both simple to complex nursing knowledge and skills.
Principal Activities & Responsibilities
- Provides basic nursing care to patients, including taking vital signs, administering medications, and performing routine treatments.
- Assists in the patient assessments by recording medical history, symptoms, and other relevant information.
- Monitors patient conditions, documenting changes, and reporting them to management.
- Administers prescribed medications and injections in accordance with nursing protocols and patient needs.
- Educates patients and families on health conditions, treatment plans, and proper care techniques.
- Ensures a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control and safety standards.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team, including doctors, nurses, and support staff to deliver optimal patient care.
- Responds promptly and professionally to patient concerns and needs, ensuring patient comfort and wellbeing.
- Provides support during medical procedures and assists with patient mobility and transfers as needed.
- Prepares and organizes patients visits by ensuring all necessary tests, clinical information, and order entries are ready for clinician review prior to appointment. Provides triage care for health clinic, including handling telephone calls, walk-is, and appointment consultations.
- Conducts focused nursing assessments and triage routine or self-limiting conditions as directed by RN Manager/Clinician.
- Uses standardized tools (e.g. PST, health maintenance alerts) to identify and address care gaps, alerting clinician to issues requiring attention.
- Recognizes and addresses common medical conditions, implementing appropriate interventions as delegated by RN Manager/Clinician.
- Prepares patients for visits and procedures, ensuring exam/procedure rooms are equipped with necessary supplies, equipment, and educational materials.
- Checks and maintains equipment for safe use and cleans exam rooms after use.
- Participates in population-based care outreach and health maintenance screenings as directed by clinicians.
- Manages clinicians schedule, ensuring efficient patient flow, and responds to incoming calls/messages from patients and other departments.
- Coordinates patient care, supporting patients with complex health needs in navigating the healthcare system, as directed by RN Manager/Clinician.
- Sorts and prioritizes mail containing clinical information for clinician review and action.
- Interacts with Tribal members and the public in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner.
- Other duties as directed by management.
- No supervisory authority.
- Moderate noise level with frequent interruptions and distractions.
- Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on organization needs.
- Work will be performed in a clinical or hospital setting with direct patient contact.
- Must be willing and able to travel both locally and with the CTCLUSI service delivery area.
- Must be able to walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to list and assist patients and perform other physical tasks required by the role.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 25 years old per Vehicle Use Policy.
- Must have a valid drivers license and be able to be insured to drive Tribal Government vehicles.
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have graduated from an accredited LPN program and have passed the NCLEX-PN exam.
- Two (2) years of administrative experience working in a high-level healthcare environment, providing executive level support.
- Intermediate understanding of computer programs, including all windows applications required.
- Excellent time-management capabilities and good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, verbally, in writing or by other acceptable means.
- This is a safety-sensitive position and will be subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal history background check, which will include fingerprinting.
- Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
- Indian preference will be observed in the hiring process.
