What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corrections Officer position at Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation?
Job Summary: Provide care and custody of prisoners incarcerated in the Chehalis Tribal Jail and maintain order and discipline amongst inmates. Participate in the day-to-day operations of the jail which involves, but is not limited to, booking and releasing offenders, maintaining security of the facility, escorting offenders within and/or outside the secure confines of the jail, effectively managing volatile and violent offenders, and fulfilling a number of clerical duties. As part of the Public Safety department, this position is considered essential services for the Chehalis Tribal Government.
Education & Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalent with at least two (2) years’ directly related experience preferred. Some higher education experience preferred. Prefer experience with American Indian/Alaska Native communities. Please note that this position may require shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Additionally, candidates must pass a background check and meet the physical requirements of the job.
