POSITION: Short Notice Deck Hand
SALARY: $20.99 per hour DOE
REPORTS TO: Ferry Boat Operator
LOCATION: Inchelium, Washington
BASIC FUNCTIONS: This is an Non Exempt position. Assists in the operation and maintenance of Inchelium/Gifford Ferry: position functions as a deck hand on the Columbia Princess This position is classified as Non-Exempt.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training:
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED and (36) months of related work experience.
- Requires a Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
- Requires successful completion of deckhand training by the deckhand on duty.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Requires knowledge of basic first aid, lifesaving procedures and use of fire extinguishers.
- Requires knowledge of traffic control hand signals.
- Requires the ability to lift 75lbs. using the proper lifting techniques.
- Requires the ability to work in all types of weather conditions ranging from high heat to extremely cold temperatures.
- Requires the ability to work weekends and holidays
- Requires the ability to be alert and safety conscience at all times.
- Requires physical agility for movement on the ferry when underway.
Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.
TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.
If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
