Showcasing a seasonal a la carte menu and chef table experience that will spotlight the ingenuity and creativity of the Confidant team. Confidant is looking for a pastry assistant who is confident in the basics of pastry production. The ideal candidate adapts to change, passionate about pastry and has strong problem solving skills when necessary. As this is a fast growing restaurant group, this position is perfect for an individual who is looking to take next steps to kitchen management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Working alongside Pastry Chef producing needs for Confidants’s dual concept. Including sourdough breads, refined plated desserts, New York diner classics, pies, and cookies.
- Conducting a morning bake off, fulfilling production needs for lunch and dinner service
- Ensure that food preparation and storage areas meet health and safety standards
• Follow instructions provided by the chefs
• Clean the prep areas and handle leftovers appropriately
• Maintain inventory and supplies
• Collaborate with the kitchen staff to cook menu items
• Ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds for distances of up to 50 feet and to manipulate them from heights which may require the use of a footstool.
Skills and Qualifications - 1 year of professional kitchen experience required
- Classic pastry skills including but not limited to: dough mixing, mousses, ice cream, bread bake off, and scaling
• Team-service experience is strongly recommended.
• The ability to self manage and adapt to changes
*Must have or be willing to obtain food certification.
