Job Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused GM Parts Advisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital and crucial role in ensuring the shop technicians promptly receive the parts needed for repairs as well as our customers receive the right parts for their automotive needs while providing exceptional service. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for the automotive industry.
Duties
- Monitor MPI program for Service Technician's part recommendations and input parts information for customer price quotes.
- Communicate with technicians, service advisors, and service management status of ordered parts, when parts are received, and any changes to planned arrivals.
- Follow up daily on status of special order parts for service technicians and retail customers.
- Assist customers in identifying and locating the correct automotive parts and accessories.
- Maintain an organized inventory of stock, ensuring that all parts are accurately recorded and readily available.
- Provide excellent customer service by answering inquiries via phone and in-person with professionalism and courtesy.
- Stay updated on automotive diagnostics and trends to provide informed recommendations to customers.
- Handle transactions efficiently while maintaining accurate records of sales and customer interactions.
- Support the sales team by promoting special offers and new products to enhance retail sales.
- This position requires constant computer usage; Dealer Track DMS, DealerLogix MPI program, and GM Parts Workbench.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in automotive service and/or automotive retail sales is REQUIRED, General Motors experience is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on building relationships with clients.
- Proficiency with retail math concepts.
- Excellent phone etiquette for effective communication with customers.
- Bilingual candidates are highly desirable to assist a diverse clientele.
- Strong organizational skills to manage inventory and part requests efficiently.
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics is a plus, enabling better assistance to customers regarding their needs.
