Job Summary :
The Quality Systems Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and supports cross-functional teams in maintaining high-quality products and processes.
Key Responsibilities :
Quality Management System (QMS) Compliance & Oversight :
Develop, implement, and maintain a QMS that aligns with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for AS9100 and ISO 9001 compliance requirements.
Monitor and ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry-specific quality standards.
Manage and maintain document control, policies, procedures, and work instructions related to the QMS.
Audits & Continuous Improvement :
Lead internal and external audits , including third-party and customer audits, ensuring audit readiness at all times.
Identify non-conformances and drive corrective and preventive actions ( CAPA ) to address quality issues.
Facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify process improvements.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement through the implementation of Lean, Six Sigma, or other quality methodologies .
Supplier & Customer Quality Support :
Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality standards are met.
Address customer complaints, corrective actions, and quality concerns in a timely and effective manner.
Serve as the liaison between customers, suppliers, and internal teams regarding quality issues and compliance.
Training & Leadership :
Provide training and mentorship to employees on AS9100, ISO 9001, and other quality standards .
Lead a team of quality professionals (if applicable), ensuring alignment with quality objectives.
Stay up to date with industry regulations and best practices, implementing changes as needed.
Required Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5 years of experience in quality management within the aerospace, defense, or manufacturing industries .
In-depth knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and other relevant quality standards .
Experience leading internal and external audits (certified AS9100 Lead Auditor preferred).
Strong understanding of statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis (RCA), and problem-solving methodologies .
Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and CAPA processes .
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP / QMS software, and data analysis tools .
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
Lean Six Sigma (Green / Black Belt) certification .
Experience with Defense and Aerospace industry requirements (e.g., ITAR, NADCAP).
Strong knowledge of supplier quality management processes .
Work Environment & Physical Demands :
Office and manufacturing environment; ability to work in production areas as needed.
May require occasional travel for supplier / customer audits or training .
