Job Description:
As an RN in the CVOR, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care during surgical procedures involving the heart and blood vessels. This includes preparing the operating room, assisting the surgical team, and monitoring the patient's vital signs and anesthesia levels. You will also be responsible for educating patients and their families on post-operative care and providing emotional support during the surgical process.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, including setting up equipment and supplies
- Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and other supplies
- Monitor the patient's vital signs and anesthesia levels during surgery
- Administer medications and fluids as directed by the surgeon
- Communicate with the surgical team and provide updates on the patient's condition
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and provide emotional support
- Maintain a sterile and safe environment in the operating room
- Document all procedures and patient information accurately and timely
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes
- Active RN license in the state of Iowa
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the CVOR setting
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and equipment used in the CVOR
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills
