Seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst that enjoys business analysis and collaborating with operations and sales leaders. This position will cover 16 locations (10 manufacturing & 6 distribution sites) in the Midwest (MO, IL, OH, AR, OK, TN) and partner with the leadership at those sites, as well as Senior leadership overseeing the region. The position will sit at the largest of the locations ~30 minutes north-east of downtown St. Louis. Travel as needed to the other plants (~10% travel). Position reports to a VP Business Controller.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / CHARACTERISTICS CONSISTENT OF THE FOLLOWING:
Organizational Interaction
- Work closely with the VPs of Sales and Operations and Plant Managers, developing a partnership as a key member to the management team.
- Self-starter and able to help drive results and savings based on projects initiated by the candidate in this role along with recommendations from Sales and Operations.
- Provide financial statement analysis training and assistance to the Plant Managers who are responsible for reporting actual results.
- Be an active listener based on Operations comments and identify opportunities for improvement that can be quantified.
Monthly Financial Activities
- Month end closing monitoring is critical for activities such as billing/invoicing, monthly physical inventory accuracy, A/P accruals, Intercompany transactions, cut-offs, and month end check lists. (*Corporate Shared Service Group is responsible for the actual month end close)
- Review P&L with Regional Operations VP's and Plant Managers monthly. Provide financial oversight and investigate irregularities or trends usually focused on sales mix, material, labor, transportation costs and overall changes to margins.
- Schedule trips to the plants where necessary. Conduct mini audits during plant visits with focus on inventory, sales, and purchases transactions, in addition to providing direction and being a financial resource to all plant management.
- Review monthly AR collection update to ensure past-due accounts are followed-up and the amounts of past-due over 31 days are in control and under 5% of total outstanding AR.
Quarterly/Annual Activities
- Work with Regional Sales and Operations management to set up plant's annual sales budget broken by major channels and by month.
- Assist with operations annual P&L budget process by providing necessary guidance and facilitating the budget upload to JDE.
- Work with Regional Sales Management to complete a Quarterly Sales Analysis.
- Assist with preparing regional financial information and presentations for the annual key managers meeting.
- Review and sign off on the semi-annual cost updates prepared by plant personnel.
- Provide necessary guidance and oversight to ensure a successful year-end physical inventory and conduct internal inventory audit at plants.
Analysis
- Special projects / Ad-hoc analyses – provide summarized and in-depth financial analyses per request, as well as taking initiative to prepare impactful analyses that support sales and operations trends, as well as opportunities for improvement.
- Provide financial support for capital projects.
- Review Customer & Product Delivered margins identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Bill of Material Reviews (Accuracy & Optimization).
- Review and ensure proposed changes in service plants for customer ship-to locations are supported by legit business reasons and financially justified.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
- Manufacturing, Homebuilding or Construction experience desired, but not required.
- 5 years of proven working experience.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and standards.
- Advanced computer skills on MS office (excel, word), Accounting software and databases. JD Edwards preferred but not required.
- Ability to manipulate and analyze large amounts of data
Salary : $115,000 - $130,000
