We are seeking a Senior Business Development Officer to focus exclusively on sourcing new relationships and driving momentum. In this high-impact role, you will target businesses with annual gross sales $100MM plus, delivering tailored financial solutions while building strong, long-term partnerships.
You will be at the forefront of our growth strategy, developing a robust pipeline, converting prospects into clients, and expanding the bank’s reach through commercial lending, treasury management, and credit solutions. Key Responsibilities:
Targeted Prospecting & Business Acquisition:
- Identify and engage high-potential companies with gross sales between $100MM plus, staying involved throughout the conversion process. Build a portfolio of new clients by establishing comprehensive C&I (Commercial and Industrial) relationships, including lending, treasury management, deposits, and other credit solutions.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Partner with Commercial Relationship Managers to cross-sell the bank’s full suite of products and services. Work together to prioritize prospects, develop strategic pursuit plans, create compelling proposals, and manage customer acquisitions and onboarding.
Market Leadership & Engagement:
- Enhance the bank’s presence and relevance in the market by consistently engaging prospects with value-added solutions. Strengthen relationships through regular marketing efforts, delivering insights that help prospective clients recognize the bank’s unique value.
Business Development & Strategy Execution:
- Drive initiatives within the Commercial Banking Business Development function, executing business objectives with a strong understanding of operational policies, risk management, and compliance. Leverage a disciplined approach to meet goals while ensuring governance, risk identification, and issue resolution.
Collaboration & Leadership:
- Work closely with peers, colleagues, and middle-level managers to navigate challenges, resolve issues, and meet growth targets. You’ll serve as a key collaborator within the bank’s Commercial Banking division, influencing outcomes and driving success through teamwork.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of Upper Middle Market Business Development experience, with a focus on client acquisition and relationship building.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proven track record of direct sourcing and converting prospects into clients in a business development role.
- Experience in Commercial or Middle Market Relationship Management.
- Strong, established network within the local market to fuel business development opportunities.
- Expertise in developing partnerships and working cross-functionally with internal business units.
- Treasury Management product knowledge.
- Experience building relationships with community organizations and influencers to enhance business development efforts.
- Proven ability to create and execute an effective sales strategy.
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—with a talent for influencing decision-makers.
- Effective organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid understanding of credit and risk management, with demonstrated experience protecting sensitive information.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
