What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Manager - Logistics position at Confidential Logistics Supply Chain?
The focus of the Sales Manager is on selling expedited logistical solutions to clients and prospecting for new business and managing both new and existing accounts. The strategies may include cold-calling and prospecting daily, lead generation through relationship selling processes, and occasional face-to-face client visits, attending industry-specific trade shows and conferences, and phone sales.
The Sales Manager must establish and maintain customer relationships, assess client-specific needs, and promote the services of the company to achieve the sales revenue goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities through collaborating with internal resources, research, prospect, and qualify new opportunities. This will include customer visits and developing relationships within the defined vertical.
- Increase market share within assigned vertical and achieve assigned financial target for volume, revenue, and profit.
- Prepare and present proposals, make recommendations for new services, extensions, or enhancements and overcome objections to closure. Successfully close new business and onboard new clients.
- Execute the account strategy and management to improve quality of relationships, product penetration, revenue share, supplier status and ranking.
- Serve as a customer advocate, accountable for escalation and proper customer positioning on all issues pertaining to customer satisfaction.
- Ensure that all account plans, service level agreements, standard operating procedures, organizational charts, account information and related documentation are current and on file record; update and maintain the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Develop key relationships at all levels within the account that drive proactive solutions that are innovative and provide value relative to the customer’s needs.
- Provide overall management of new, existing portfolio and information relative to the customers including implementation of new procedures, quotes, contract agreements, routing, ad-hoc bids, and special projects.
- Reporting to management and clients on KPIs to track client activity and company performance.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting in sales pipeline management, all regular and ad-hoc sales reports as and when required.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, Operations Management or an equivalent combination of logistics, air freight, or supply chain experience required.
- 2 – 5 years of experience selling expedited logistics services to the automotive industry.
- Must be a highly motivated self-starter with the desire to acquire additional responsibilities.
- Must exhibit excellent communication skills at all levels within the customer including executive; strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability; ability to compose letters, emails, and other written documentation clearly and concisely.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills with the ability to grasp extensive knowledge while dealing with a variety of people and personalities.
- Must be able to present oneself in a highly cooperative and professional manner when meeting both internal and external customers and vendors face-to-face.
- Basic to intermediate experience using Windows operating system and Microsoft software applications is required.
