Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Supervisor to join our finance team at our highly respected law firm in Downtown Portland. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the accounting department's daily operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with financial regulations. Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance on best practices and professional development.
- Oversee accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely invoicing and collections. Understand and have experience in e-billing.
- Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions, including cash flow analysis and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Prepare and review financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
- Maintain an understanding of financial concepts, debits, credits, and their application in day-to-day operations.
- Utilize accounting software for efficient record-keeping and reporting.
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately reflected in the financial statements.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives.
Experience
- Proven experience in an accounting role with supervisory responsibilities is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounts receivable processes and financial report writing.
- Experience in cash flow analysis and balance sheet reconciliation is essential.
- Familiarity with legal accounting software is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Law Firm Experience. Familiarity with the unique demands of law firm accounting, especially trust accounting, is essential.
