Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activities Director to join our team in providing enriching experiences for residents in our nursing home. Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee a diverse range of recreational therapy programs tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
- Plan and coordinate events that foster community engagement and socialization among residents.
- Conduct assessments to identify individual resident preferences and capabilities to tailor activities effectively.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities align with the health and wellness needs of residents.
- Facilitate group activities such as arts and crafts, games, music therapy, and exercise classes.
- Provide guidance and support to staff members assisting with activities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment.
- Maintain accurate records of participation in activities and assess the effectiveness of programs regularly.
- Engage with families to encourage participation in events and communicate the benefits of recreational therapy.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in senior care settings, particularly in long-term care facilities or assisted living environments.
- Knowledge of memory care practices, dementia care strategies, and aging issues counseling is highly desirable.
- Strong event planning skills with the ability to create engaging programs that meet the diverse needs of residents.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a compassionate approach to working with seniors.
- Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to enhance resident care through activities.
- A background in recreational therapy or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
- Must be organized, creative, and possess strong problem-solving abilities to adapt programs as needed.
