Position Summary:
The Patient Access Manager shall be responsible for directing the admissions process; developing, implementing, and maintaining revenue-generating strategies. Determine and implement admissions best practice; promote the hospital and maintain a satisfied patient base.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Health Administration preferred
- Prefer college courses or continuing education applicable to Hospital Patient Accounting or Admissions.
Experience:
- Two (2) years experience in healthcare patient registration, billing, related to hospital patients.
- Require minimum two (2) years experience in supervisory role.
- Bilingual – Spanish and English preferred.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of acute care inpatient services, the direct admission process, pre-admission, inpatient insurance verification, and financial counseling to include all aspects of the inpatient revenue cycle.
- Expertise in computer applications to the medical field, Healthcare payor types, i.e. Medicare, Medi-Cal and insurance program rules and regulations, Accreditation standards.
- Medical terminology, accounting principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of admissions and patient accounting.
- Must be familiar with billing information requirement
- Third-Party payment rules, budget development and monitoring
- Must also possess knowledge of computerized admitting systems and word-processing skills
- Strong managerial skills, including coaching and mentoring
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including customer service skills
- Expertise in using all Microsoft Office products including Excel.
- A team player, adaptive and collaborative while working across the organization.
- Demonstrates good judgment and discretion regarding confidentiality of sensitive issues.
License/Registration/Certification:
- Current and Valid State of California Drivers license.
- Current Auto Insurance.
- Clean DMV record.
