Role Purpose:
Skilled Chemist required to manage and improve site analytical laboratory to support local quality testing to comply with our PQCC (People, Quality, Customer Service, Cost) KPI agenda. Responsible for maintaining all laboratory instruments to ensure all required testing to support Quality and Food Safety requirements. Responsibilities include financial management of annual laboratory budget, laboratory operation performance, laboratory instrument maintenance and calibration, laboratory safety compliance, and method development. Role also includes participation in corporate Chemistry Working Group meetings and initiatives.
Accountabilities & Impact:
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues with product quality (at co-packer or consumer level) including initiating and monitoring corrective actions.
- Assist with troubleshooting, determining root cause, isolating holds, and working to resolve customer complaints.
- Help to develop quality specifications, information records and display data clearly and effectively
- Operate and maintain lab equipment/instrumentation, not limited to Alcolyzer, DMA, pH meters, GC/MS, HPLC, spectrophotometer, etc.
- Perform instrument calibration and maintenance as well as maintaining control charts to ensure instruments are performing properly.
- Manage laboratory inventory.
Skills & Experiences Needed:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 1-2 years progressive laboratory experience, preferably in beverage or consumer testing industries
- TTB certified chemist preferred
- Knowledge of instrument control charting, calibration, and maintenance techniques
- Knowledge of HPLC, GC/MS, UV/Vis, titration, and density measurement techniques
