Position Summary: The Business Office Manager directs the overall administrative, billing, accounting, and payroll functions of the Business Office.
Education, Experience, and Licensure/Certifications :
- Must have a minimum of an associate's degree or equivalent experience
- Two (2) years of office management experience preferred
- One (1) year in post-acute care or other geriatric-related field preferred
Working Conditions:
- Attends and participate in continuing education programs
- Works in department as well as throughout facility
- Subject to frequent interruptions
- Involved with patients, associates, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc. under all conditions and circumstances
Essential Functions:
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail
- Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing the business office functions in the post-acute care facility
- Must be knowledgeable of administration practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing administration functions in the post-acute care facility
- Must be able to effectively manage and oversee bookkeeping functions including: posting payments and charges to patient ledgers, balance daily receipts, collect delinquent accounts, and evaluate need for and refer delinquent accounts to collection agencies
- Must be able to maintain facility checkbook and reconcile checkbook regularly
- Must be able to manage and oversee patient accounts
- Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: general business office responsibilities, supervisory responsibilities, patient rights, and safety and sanitation
- Must be able to recruit, select, hire, train, evaluate, counsel, and supervisor business office staff
- Must be able to effectively manage and operate within budget
- Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the administration department
- Must exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of patients
