JOB TITLE: Buyer
JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: Under the supervision of the Director, Supply Chain the key roles are responsible for:
to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting commercial, Government and defense industries. This individual must have the ability to grasp new concepts quickly and easily in an effort to become an independent problem solver. To excel in this key role, you must be able communicate clearly.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Owns tactical execution of supply strategy.
- Responsible to analyze the MRP to procure the correct material to required production dates.
- Issues, manages, and maintains purchasing documents as directed by MRP or Nonproduction requisition.
- Cost, schedule, and inventory accountability for production & Nonproduction material.
- Monitors supplier performance and provides regular feedback to Director of Supply Chain and Quality
- Reviews all delivery issues and takes appropriate action to prevent schedule interruption.
- Expedite, escalate as required to meet a dynamic production schedule.
- Works closely with Supplier Quality to disposition non-conforming material within prescribed timelines.
- Interface with all the business units.
- Develop and qualify new suppliers’ injunction with Engineering.
- Work to meet cost saving goals set by Management.
- Negotiate with suppliers for the most competitive overall cost of the product.
- May include other duties as assigned and/or special projects.
QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of three (3) years related procurement experience, possesses excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- 3-5 years’ experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with assemblies, components, and metal fabrication.
- Detail oriented and able to multitask and think out of the box.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent Negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem- solving skills.
- Ability to function well in a high paced, and at time stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to excel, word.
- Experience with ERP / MRP systems.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in Business or other technical discipline is preferred.
- Ability to work well across all levels of the organization.
- A strong technical background.
