Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Buyer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the purchasing process, ensuring that all materials and services are acquired at the best possible price while maintaining quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Procures materials, supplies, parts, and components.
- Solicits and evaluates competitive bids.
- Analyzes and reviews price quotations.
- Prepares and maintains correspondence and procurement records.
- Collaborates with operating departments to assess purchasing needs.
- Expedites delivery of critical equipment and materials when necessary.
- Reviews and processes requisitions.
- Manages procurement activities for goods and services, including raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and advertising.
- Communicates with vendors to obtain details on pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
- Evaluates products for purchase through testing, observation, or examination.
- Estimates value based on market pricing knowledge.
- Determines procurement methods, such as direct purchase or bidding.
- Issues purchase orders and bid requests.
- Maintains procurement records, tracking purchases, costs, deliveries, product quality, and performance.
- Works with inspection, quality control, users, vendors, and other stakeholders to address and resolve issues with defective or unacceptable goods and services.
- May authorize invoice payments.
- Provides relevant departments with supply-related updates and issue resolutions.
- Facilitates the timely delivery of goods as needed.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Effectively prioritizes and organizes work tasks, utilizing time efficiently.
- Identifies and resolves issues promptly, gathering and analyzing information with precision; collaborates effectively in group problem-solving and maintains rational decision-making, even in emotionally charged situations.
- Provides constructive feedback, fosters a positive team environment, prioritizes team success over individual interests, boosts morale, and strengthens group commitment to shared goals.
- Communicates clearly and persuasively in both positive and challenging situations; actively listens, seeks clarification, responds effectively to questions, demonstrates strong presentation skills, and actively participates in meetings.
- Writes clearly and effectively, edits for accuracy in spelling and grammar, adapts writing style to different needs, presents numerical data clearly, and comprehends and interprets written information with ease.
- A Order processing systems a plus; MS Office experience required.
