I. JOB OVERVIEW:
The Buyer/Planner performs all aspects of purchasing goods and managing the inventory for the organization. They evaluate and recommend vendors and determine the most cost-effective inventory levels and re-order levels. Negotiating price, delivery and credit terms are among the responsibilities. Creating new part numbers, BOMS, and manufacturing orders including routing instructions.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for efficient purchasing of inventory, job materials and capital equipment. Receive purchase requisitions, verifies for accuracy and authorization(s).
- Determine and negotiates prices, delivery, and credit terms; buy according to established company policies and procedures.
- Prepare and issue purchase order packages including drawings and NDA’s if required.
- Responsible to evaluate, assess and select vendors based on capabilities, performance along with consistent quality.
- Maintains rapport and good working relationships with vendors. Periodically evaluates vendors / suppliers and advises Site Manager when vendors are not meeting requirements. Evaluates and recommends new / substitute vendor, when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of all open and received PO’s, expediting open PO’s as necessary to ensure delivery of purchased items supporting uninterrupted manufacturing flow. Note updates in GP Dynamics.
- Direct receiving location of materials internally to support manufacturing flow.
- Evaluate inventory with analysis of historical and expected usage to prepare reports for the site manager estimations of reorder points, inventory levels and product turnover including most economical purchase levels of both finished goods and raw stock materials.
- Support Sales Order processing team to determine lead times, give updates as needed on order progress.
- Enter and maintain new part numbers including descriptions, manufacturing data, BOM, Routing instructions, reorder points in GP dynamics.
- Create and execute manufacturing orders in GP dynamics. Verify for accuracy with Engineer and issue to manufacturing team.
III. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Working with engineering or inside sales, implement continuous improvements of existing purchasing processes and improve internal tracking of all goods, whether for inventory or job-related purchases.
- Continually develop supply chain.
- Create a system to evaluate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, where new potential vendors are identified, and existing vendors are vetted to have the best suppliers to work with Triosim in regard to quality, cost and reliability.
- Have an excellent understanding of raw stock market conditions and how it relates to Triosim purchasing and be able to analyze the market to assess present and future material availability.
- Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
- Resolve all vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent Experience: An associate degree in a related field with additional years of experience in purchasing, inventory management, or supply chain operations may be considered.
- Ability to interpret technical data and resolve questions required.
- Strong inter-personal skills in dealing with internal and external customers and vendors.
- Ability to maintain composure and make competent decisions in difficult and stressful situations required.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings, hand sketches, and machine layouts.
- Possesses a strong working knowledge of production and inventory planning.
- Excellent PC skills with a strong functional knowledge of database tools and Excel is a necessity. Excel skills needed include data look up functions, pivot tables, table analysis functions, and ability to work with large data sets.
- Excellent verbal and written skills required.
- Strong motivation and willingness to grow within process solution framework
- Familiarity with manufacturing, machining, or pulp & paper industry processes.
- Strong ability to analyze inventory trends, historical data, and market conditions to optimize purchasing decisions.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve supply chain disruptions efficiently.
V. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk through the plant, reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to type, requiring wrist-finger speed and ability. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move from 10 to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.

VI. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Site Manager, Coordinates activities across all departments, especially Manufacturing, Accounts Payable, Receiving and Quality Assurance.

Pay: $26.00 - $31.00 per hour
